AES Encryption
Encrypt and decrypt text with a password (AES-256).
AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your password (PBKDF2-SHA-256, 250,000 iterations, random salt and IV). Everything happens in your browser. If you forget the password, the text can't be recovered.
How to use
- 1Choose Encrypt and type your text.
- 2Enter a strong password.
- 3Copy the encrypted text and share it.
- 4The other person chooses Decrypt and uses the same password.
Frequently asked questions
How secure is it?
It uses AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your password by PBKDF2-SHA-256 (250,000 iterations) and a random salt and IV. Security depends on a strong password.
What if I forget the password?
The text can't be recovered. There is no backdoor.
Can I decrypt in another tool?
The output is base64url of version | salt | IV | ciphertext. Other tools need the same format and parameters.
Why does the output change each time?
A new random salt and IV are used every time, so the same text never encrypts the same way.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste is sent to a server.
