Frequently asked questions
What can I use it for?
Testing speakers and subwoofers, checking left and right channels, tuning instruments to 440 Hz, and finding the highest pitch you can hear.
Why can't I hear very high tones?
Most adults can't hear above about 15–17 kHz, and many phone speakers can't play very low or very high tones.
What does the balance slider do?
It sends the tone to the left ear, both, or the right ear, handy for checking headphones.
Is it safe?
Keep the volume low, especially with headphones. Loud pure tones can be uncomfortable and harmful.
