Frequently asked questions

How does the SIP calculator work?

It assumes you invest at the start of every month and returns compound monthly at the expected yearly rate ÷ 12. This is the method most fund houses and apps use.

What is a step-up SIP?

A step-up SIP raises your monthly amount by a fixed percentage every year, for example 10%, usually in line with salary increases. It can grow your final corpus a lot.

Are SIP returns guaranteed?

No. Mutual fund returns depend on the market and change every year. This calculator shows an estimate based on the average return you enter.

What return rate should I use?

Many people use 10–12% for long-term equity funds and 6–8% for debt funds. Use a lower rate if you want a more careful estimate.

Does this include tax?

No. Capital gains tax and fund expenses are not included, so the amount you actually receive may be a little lower.
