Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't the bar move?

The mic may be muted, the wrong one may be selected, or another app may be using it. Try another mic in the list and check your system sound settings.

Is my voice recorded or sent anywhere?

No. The test runs in your browser. The 5-second clip stays on your device and disappears when you leave the page.

How do I allow microphone access?

Click “Allow” when your browser asks. If you blocked it earlier, click the lock icon next to the address bar and turn the microphone on.

The bar turns red. Is that bad?

Red means you're very loud or too close, which can distort your voice. Move back a little or lower the mic volume.

Does it work before a Zoom or Google Meet call?

Yes. It's a quick way to check your mic and pick the right one before joining a meeting.
