Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?

Mbps is megabits per second (used by internet plans); MB/s is megabytes per second (shown by downloads). 1 MB/s = 8 Mbps, so a 100 Mbps plan downloads about 12.5 MB/s.

Why is my download slower than my plan?

Wi-Fi signal, network overhead, busy servers and other devices sharing the connection all reduce speed. About 80–90% of the plan speed is normal.

Does it work for uploads too?

Yes. Enter your upload speed, which is often lower than the download speed on many plans.

Why use 1 GB = 1000 MB?

Internet speeds and file sizes shown by most apps use decimal units. Some computers show 1 GB as 1024 MB, a small difference.
