Frequently asked questions
Which records can I check?
A and AAAA (IP addresses), CNAME (aliases), MX (mail servers), TXT (SPF, DKIM, verification), NS (name servers), SOA, CAA, SRV and PTR (reverse DNS).
How do I check SPF or DMARC?
Look up TXT for the domain to see SPF. For DMARC, look up TXT for _dmarc.yourdomain.com.
Why don't I see my new record?
DNS changes take time to spread, up to the record's old TTL. Try the other resolver, or wait and check again.
Is my lookup private?
The query goes from your browser directly to Cloudflare's or Google's public resolver, not through HQ8T.
How do I do a reverse lookup?
Select PTR and enter an IPv4 address such as 8.8.8.8.
