Frequently asked questions

When is a delivery challan used?

When goods move without a sale invoice at that moment — job work, supply on approval, stock transfer between branches, exhibitions, sales returns or when the invoice follows later.

Is a delivery challan a tax invoice?

No. It records the movement of goods. Under GST, a tax invoice is issued separately when the supply is made.

Can I make a challan without rates?

Yes. Choose Qty only to show just the goods and quantities, which is common for job work and stock transfers.

How many copies should I print?

Usually three: original for the consignee, duplicate for the transporter and triplicate for your records.
