Frequently asked questions
What is Base64?
Base64 turns any data into plain text using 64 safe characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /). It's used to put images in HTML or CSS, send attachments and store binary data in JSON.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Anyone can decode Base64, so never use it to hide passwords or secrets. It's an encoding, not encryption.
What is URL-safe Base64?
It replaces + with - and / with _ and drops the = padding, so the result can be used in URLs and file names. The decoder accepts both forms.
Does it support Hindi and emoji?
Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8, so every language and emoji round-trips correctly.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files are read and converted in your browser. Files up to 10 MB are supported.
