A marriage biodata is usually the first thing a family sees, often shared on WhatsApp. A clear, neat biodata on one page makes a good first impression.

What to include

Personal details

  • Full name
  • Date, time and place of birth (time and place matter if horoscopes are matched)
  • Height
  • Religion, caste and sub-caste, gotra (if relevant to your family)
  • Rashi, nakshatra and manglik status (if relevant)
  • Education — highest degree and college
  • Occupation — job title, company and city
  • Annual income (optional; many families prefer to discuss this later)

Family details

  • Father's name and occupation
  • Mother's name and occupation
  • Brothers and sisters, with marital status
  • Family type (joint or nuclear) and native place

Contact details

  • Address and one or two mobile numbers of family members

Optional

  • Hobbies, food preferences, and a short line about expectations

Tips for a good biodata

  • Keep it to one page. Leave out anything you wouldn't discuss in a first meeting.
  • Use a recent, natural photo — good light, plain background, a pleasant expression. Avoid heavy filters.
  • Write dates consistently, for example 14 March 1998.
  • Check spellings of names, especially in Hindi or regional languages.
  • Share as both JPG and PDF: JPG opens instantly on WhatsApp; PDF is better for printing.

Make it in minutes

The free Marriage Biodata Maker has English and Hindi templates. You can rename or remove any field, add your own sections, add a photo, pick a colour, and download a PDF or JPG. Text shrinks automatically to fit one A4 page, and your details stay on your own device.
