How it works: new basic = current basic × fitment factor. When a pay commission is applied, DA restarts from 0% and HRA usually goes back to its base rates (shown here as 24/16/8%). Transport allowance, NPS and income tax are not included, and the final pay matrix may round figures differently.

Frequently asked questions

Has the 8th Pay Commission fitment factor been decided?

No. The figures used here are the ones being discussed. Change the fitment factor when official numbers are announced.

How is the new basic pay calculated?

New basic = current basic pay × fitment factor. The 7th Pay Commission used 2.57.

Why does DA become zero?

When a new pay commission is applied, the existing DA is merged into the new basic pay and DA restarts from 0%.

What happens to HRA?

HRA is a percentage of basic. It usually returns to its base rates (24/16/8% for X/Y/Z cities under the 7th CPC) after a revision.

Is this my exact future salary?

No. It's an estimate; the final pay matrix, allowances and effective date will decide the actual amount.
