Frequently asked questions

How is text turned into binary?

Each character becomes one or more bytes using UTF-8, and each byte is shown as 8 binary digits. “H” is 01001000.

Why does a Hindi letter give 3 bytes?

UTF-8 uses 1 byte for English letters and 2–4 bytes for other scripts and emoji.

Do I need spaces between bytes?

Spaces are easiest, but an unbroken binary or hex string also works if its length is a multiple of 8 or 2.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser.
